To: Archbishop O'Malley

Long ago I made my peace with my Creator knowing He is a loving  God. The Holy Trinity is the anchor of my life.  I also have been at peace with my parish Sacred Heart Church, Lexington, and its worshipping community.  For thirty years or more Sacred Heart has been there for me, accepting and enriching my soul.  Now with the announcement of its closing I find I am somewhat lost.  Now I see more clearly the role it has played in my identity as a Catholic Christian.  I have belonged to other parishes in New England and the Midwest but at Sacred Heart I became an adult believer and found true spirituality.

Our community at Sacred Heart is tightly knit drawn together over the years by priest of a combination of unique talents and spirituality.  I feel the strong presence of the Holy Spirit here over the years and now especially as we come together in sorrow to present our case to you who have enabled this decision to destroy this community.

This church, its people, are active in all the spheres of Christian endeavor within the worship in the church and through its outreach to other parishes and needful groups through-out the archdiocese.  We have all that we need to be a viable parish.  We are solvent.  We are not a drain on the archdiocese.  We have a good pastor who could continue to serve God here for some time to come.

Why then should you choose to close us down?  You have the power and the responsibility to preserve what is good.   Listen to the Holy Spirit.
